GYOZA FAQ

What is gyoza?

Gyoza are Japanese-style pan-fried dumplings inspired by Chinese jiaozi. Known for their crispy bottoms and juicy fillings, they’re typically made with a thin wheat wrapper and packed with savoury ingredients like pork, cabbage, and aromatics.

How are these gyoza different from other dumplings?

Our gyoza are handmade with finely minced pork, cabbage, scallions, and a delicious blend of sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and white pepper—bringing a rich, umami-forward flavour in every bite. Unlike steamed dumplings or bao, gyoza are pan-fried and steamed for that signature golden crisp bottom and tender top.

How do I cook them at home?

Pan-frying (Yaki Gyoza style) is the classic method. Fry until golden, steam until tender, then crisp the base again—ready in about 10 minutes from frozen. Cooking instructions are on the pack!

Do I need to dip them in sauce?

Gyoza are flavourful on their own, but they also shine with a classic dipping sauce—try soy sauce, vinegar, and a splash of chilli oil for a restaurant-style finish at home.

Are these gyoza pre-cooked?

No, they are frozen raw. Make sure to cook them thoroughly by following the pan-fry instructions for the best results.

Can I cook them another way?

Yes! While pan-frying gives the most authentic texture, they can also be steamed or air-fried. Just adjust cooking time accordingly and check they’re heated through.
